How to edit physician information from the online Find A Doctor profile

This is a walk through of how to edit certain sections of the Find A Doctor profile that is available for Mount Sinai employees.

Before We Get Started

Prerequisites to working with the Update Find A Doc tool are:

  • you will need access to the Dept EDIR Admin tools.
  • you will need the correct information available. Having them in an electronic form will assist with entering information into Sinai Central (via cutting and pasting).

Log into Sinai Central and Navigate to the Find A Doc tool

  • Log into Sinai Central. You can do this from http://sinaicentral.mssm.edu.
    Take a look at this document if you are having issues with your login.
  • From the left hand menu , select EDir > Dept EDIR Admin.
    • You may need to select the Home link from the top right hand side of the window to expose the highest level sections of the left hand menu.
    • If you cannot find the EDir service, then you may not have been assigned the role. All users that have the ADMINISTRATOR role will have access to this service.
      Other users can be explicitly assigned the role to have access to the service. Review this document
      for instructions on how to be assigned the role.

  1. Select your department from the drop down menu. Click on the Select button.

Select User

  1. Click on SELECT USER in the left hand menu.
  2. Enter the employee's name and / or lifenumber into the search tool. Click on the Search button.
  3. Select the employees name from the search results.

  1. The left hand menu will expand and a representation of the information in the employee's profile will appear (center section with tabs). Click on FIND-A-DOC in the left hand menu.
    To see information currently available under the Find A Doctor profile, you can click on the corresponding tab in the center section for more details.

Modifying Your Information


The update Find A Doctor profile tool is now available on the screen.

The requester and status information is available at the top of the tool.

Clinical Interests Section

Clinical Interests Section

  1. To modify an available clinical interest, click on the drop-down menu and choose another one that is listed as an option.
    If a clinical interest is not available and the physician would like it added, please contact the Web Marketing Office.
    • Use the arrows arrows.pngto change the order in which the interests appear on the profile.
    • To add a new interest click on the Add another clinical interest link. To remove a clinical interest click on the trash can garbage canicon.

Specialties Section

  1. To make a Specialty available for Beryl (1800 MD SINAI), select the checkbox next to the specialty provided.
Specialties that are available here are maintained by Medical Staff Services.

Beryl Profile Section

Beryl Section

This information will be used by call advisors from 1800 MD SINAI to facilitate patient referrals.
  1. Add any notes that the physician would like available to patients.
    • For names that are difficult to pronounce, a phonetic spelling of the name can be provided in the field Phonetic Spelling.
    • The Began Practicing, Joined Staff, and Staff Practice Area fields provide further information about different milestones for the physician.

Patient Office Section

Offices Section

  1. Enter a name for the Office (this is not displayed in the profile, but is available for your later referencing).
  2. Enter Address information in this subsection for the office.
  3. Provide other Contact information for the office if it is available.
    This information will be used for the online Make an Appointment form.
  4. Use the drop-down menus to establish the available office hours.
  5. Using the checkboxes provided, you can specify other information about the patient office.
  6. In the text area, please enter any notes on the nearest public transportation.
  7. Select the Payment Methods that are available at the office by selecting the checkboxes provided.
  8. Use the Insurance Plans section to modify, add or delete the insurance accepted at the office.
  9. Use the Office Languages section to provide the different languages spoken at the office.
  10. To add another office, click on the Add another office link. To remove the office click on the trash can garbage can icon.

Submit Your Request

save and submit t

  1. Down at the bottom of the form, click on the SUBMIT REQUEST button. You can choose to also save a draft (with the SAVE DRAFT button) for later editing or cancel the request with the CANCEL REQUEST button.
