Adding another Approver to a Contract

The nature of complex contracts may need more individuals to review them for their expertise/guidance. Here is an instruction set on how to add an Additional Approver to the Contract.

Before We Start

Consider using this tool to bring the content of the contract to a "content advisor."

Example: A maintenance contract has increased its yearly rate by $5000. You want the Dean to "okay" the use of the funding on the contract in this particular way.

Contracts that are "in play" (submitted) are the only transactions that can be given an additional approver.

Overview of Steps

  1. Login to Sinai Central
  2. Find the transaction
  3. Add the Additional Approver (see below)

Add the Additional Approver

  1. After finding and selecting the contract request that you want to add an approver to, click on ADDITIONAL APPROVER in the left hand menu.
  2. Select the link to select the additional approver. Add a comment to the email that is sent to the approver.

Going Further: Why am I being asked to sign twice?

In Sinai Central, there are three layers of approval that all transactions pass through. They are the fund (fund owner/admin), department, and finance levels. These approvals are guided by the policies that govern each level. Users that are in the approval chain that are added as an additional approver may have to sign a contract twice. This will occur when the approver is brought in as an additional approver before or after their level of signing off on the transaction. Signing off at one level counts towards all the signatures that are needed for that level of approval.
